Your Official Guide To A Hillbrook Swimming Carnival

Photobucket

The Hillbrook Swimming Carnival is an annual tradition of dressing up, war cries, fierce competition and sometimes even swimming. Often the fiercness of the four colours, blue, red, green and white (although white is really more of a shade) can be overwhelming so I thought I would give you a bit of a photographic guide to swimming carnival at Hillbrook.

Firstly we have the sports council! The lovely team of grade 12 students who put a lot of time and effort into organising the day. And as Mr Reed said 'without them there would be no spirit'.

Then we have the novelty events. The events which keep the crowds coming back every year.

Volleyball
Step 1: Arrange your strongest and tallest players towards front of court.
Step 2: Arrange as many other players as possible within the rest of the court so as to decrease the chances of the ball hitting the ground. Note: It doesn't matter if these players are sometimes scared of the ball.
Step 3: Play.

Punctured Drum
The Hillbrook tradition which involves a barrel covered in holes, a bucket and a whole lot of water.
Step 1: Arrange self in appropriate position as to cover as many holes as possible. Note: ANY body parts necessary are accepted.
Step 2: Have team member haul as many buckets of water as possible into drum (or on contestants)
Step 3: Fill the drum within the time frame as much as possible to beat the other teams.

Of course the day is best spent with friends and team mates.
